@3Genlocks: Checking that it works:--
@7
Those of you who have read the introduction to video should
have a good idea now what a genlock does, this page just tells you what
you can actually do with a genlock and what all the slidey things and
buttons do. Technical words eh?
The genlock I use is the Amitek fusion with Scala HT100 which is supplied
with the genlock, because you get Scala 100 with the fusion I will base
my articles on that version of scala, although in the not so distant
future we may make a Scala 300 guide.
The Amiga set up we used consists of an A600 with 2Mb ram fusion genlock
and one disk drive. (please note, this is not MY setup, but we have to use
the A600 with the genlock because my A1200 seems to have something wrong

with its genlocking circuitry i.e the computer keeps crashing when the
@7
genlock is plugged in- Embarrassment mode off)
Once your genlock is connected, you must connect another TV (and video
recorder) to the out socket at the back of the genlock, now, connect
your source video to the IN socket.
Switch your Amiga on along with both TVs and the videos.
By messing around with the Fader on your genlock you will find that
the Amigas graphics i.e workbench screen is appearing over the
@7
normal video picture. If it isn't then err, you've done something wrong
and seeing as how this isn't a tutorial on connecting up TVs and Videos
I can't help you there, but check that your genlock is switched to
overlay and the video detected light is on. #6More>>>

Now that you know your Genlock is working try loading your favourite
paint package, i.e Dpaint or PPaint which are packages just about
everybody should have.
Now draw some silly text on dpaint and slowly fade the text in over
the video source. We had recorded Mark MSC walking around the A.F
offices and we just wrote Queer over his picture, he didn't look too

impressed.
If all the above worked then we can move on to using Scala, which is
the right tool for the job.
Load up Scala and flick over to the next selection page because
I've had enough of genlocks.
